I didn’t mean to post this a week late. I finished up my last week of training as best I could (I had a calf muscle pull so I ended up taking an additional rest day) and then completed the New Bedford Half on March 20th.
I was so used to training in the cold that the nice weather caught me off guard. I was keeping the exact pace I needed to for a sub 2 hour half but hit a wall at mile 11. I shed a layer I shouldn’t have worn and did my best to finish mile 11 and 12. The extra minutes on these two miles pushed my time to 2:02:17. I came so very close!!
This is still a victory because I bettered my best half time by over 22 minutes! Also, I’m more committed to hitting my goals and have hired a nutritionist and someone to help with meal prep so I can drop the weight I need to. I’m confident that taking these steps will allow me to break 2 hours at the Newport Half later this year.
In the meantime, I’ve got a couple 5k’s coming up and the Portland 10 Miler at the end of April. I’m still super psyched for this year’s runs!
